World Water Day is an international observance celebrated every year on March 22nd by the United Nations to raise awareness on water related issues. It was first coined in 1992 after a recommendation during the UN Environment and Development conference.

The UN sets a theme each year and this year’s – water and jobs – is looking to shed awareness on nearly 1.5 billion people who work in water-related sectors and recognize the importance of their labor rights.
